ESPRESSO Solino Coffee
250g bag of whole beans
With Solino Espresso, we finally have a coffee on the market that takes the idea of fair trade even further. All the beans used here come 100% from the mountainous regions of the Ethiopian rainforest and are picked by hand before being delicately roasted using the Italian method, then wrapped. All on the premises. Only the best Arabica beans from the Yirgacheffee, Sidamo and Harar regions are used here, as they are particularly delicate, low in acidity and have a unique aromatic flavour.
Buying Solino coffee helps to create and maintain skilled jobs in Ethiopia. In addition, the consumption of CO² during transport to Europe is reduced, given that the coffee already loses more than 25% of its weight during roasting in the country where it is grown.
Even the more reputable Trans-Fair programmes don't achieve this, as they only guarantee slightly higher wages for coffee growers in the country of origin.
Characteristics of Solino Espresso: Aromatic, but at the same time very mild and low in acidity.
Solino coffee is not particularly suitable for automatic machines, as its long-roasted beans are rather oily. It is better to grind it in a separate coffee grinder and brew it in an espresso machine with a filter holder or in a Moka coffee maker.
