Anyone who's ever strolled through Parisian cafés will have noticed that Cafés Richard's Perle Noire Espresso is ubiquitous. It's considered a flagship of classic French roasting, a craft perfected down to the smallest nuances. Unlike Italian or, especially, southern Italian roasts, French espresso is roasted for a shorter time and at a lower temperature. Don't get us wrong, though—the French roasting style is still considered a dark roast, along with Viennese and Italian espresso roasts. The roasting process removes most of the acids from the beans, giving them more body and roasted aromas. It's just not quite as intense as a southern Italian espresso. However, this also has its advantages. The lower temperature of the French roast prevents the formation of unpleasant bitter compounds. Instead, it retains more natural coffee aromas and fruity notes.

For the Perle Noire ESE Pads, 100% Arabica beans from Central Asia are used in this way. &Roasted in South America and Asia, the beans are then blended into a unique mix and finely ground. The Perle Noire boasts an exceptionally smooth, harmonious, and balanced flavor. Not too acidic, yet bursting with aromas. Not too bitter, yet beautifully intense. A classic French espresso. In the cup, you'll find a full-bodied espresso with spicy notes of gingerbread and fruit.
